What is an Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon?
Oral and maxillofacial surgery requires an additional 4-6 years of hospital-based surgical and anesthesia training after graduation from dental school. As an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, Dr. Krause manages a wide variety of problems relating to the mouth, teeth and facial regions.
Dr. Krause practices a full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with expertise ranging from dental implant surgery, tooth extractions, wisdom tooth removal, oral pathology, orthodontic exposure and bracket placement, facial trauma and corrective jaw surgery. This also includes techniques designed to rebuild bone structure with minimal surgical intervention and optimal patient comfort.
He diagnoses and treats facial pain, facial injuries, ranging from simple to traumatic, and reduces fractures. Dr. Krause brings a broad base of expertise and experience in his field and has served the Greater Columbus region for 30 years. Dr. Krause is on staff at Riverside Methodist Hospital, serving as Chief of the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Section. He is also on staff at Mt. Carmel East Hospital, Mt. Carmel St. Ann’s Hospital, Upper Valley Medical Center, and Grant Hospital.
Dr. Krause has professional training and course completion from the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology in Washington, D.C. and serves on the Ohio State Dental Board Forensic Team, which utilizes state of the art forensic dental procedures to assist law enforcement with various cases for the entire State of Ohio. He has assisted in identifying missing persons, homicides, and other criminal cases. He also serves as an investigator with the Franklin County Coroners Office, having worked cases utilizing his expertise in Forensic Dentistry.
Dr. Krause also serves the community as an armed Police Sgt. with the Westerville Division of Police Reserve Unit. He has been a police officer with them for 14 years, graduating from the Police Academy as Valedictorian in 1998. He volunteers his service and patrols Westerville approximately 20 hours per month and working various special duty assignments.
Surgical Staff
The surgical staff at Dr. Jeffrey W. Krause – Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery are experienced, certified oral and maxillofacial surgical assistants, who assist in surgical treatment and all aspects of the clinical treatment of patients. All patients are continuously monitored during treatment and post-surgically until they are able to leave our office. Our staff are continually updated on the latest standards of care, and through continuing education are constantly seeking ways to better the experience for our patients. All staff are CPR certified and most are certified X-Ray technicians. We treat all patients like ‘our family members’ and look forward to providing the ultimate in patient care and assistance.
