Meet Dr. Jeffrey W. Krause
Dr. Krause has practiced Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in Westerville for thirty years. He is currently the Section Chief of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Riverside Methodist Hospital, and is also on staff at Mt. Carmel East Hospital, St. Ann’s Hospital, and Grant Hospital.
Dr. Krause began his solo practice as an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon in Westerville, Ohio in 1981, after matriculating from his 3-year residency at Detroit Receiving Hospital, under the auspices of the Wayne State University College of Medicine. Prior to his residency at Detroit Receiving Hospital he spent a year as an intern at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Toledo, Ohio. Dr. Krause is a graduate of Case Western Reserve University’s College of Dental Medicine. He received his undergraduate degree from John Carroll University with dual majors in chemistry and biology. He was the class valedictorian of Lutheran High School East in Cleveland, Ohio.
Dr. Krause is a Fellow with the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and member of the Ohio Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the Great Lakes Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Dental Association, the Ohio Dental Association, the Columbus Dental Society, the Ohio Dental Association’s Forensics Team, and is a member of the Westerville Chamber of Commerce.
Approximately nineteen years ago while practicing oral and maxillofacial surgery during the day, Dr. Krause went through the police academy for six months of night school and became OPOTA-certified. OPOTA stands for the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy. Dr. Krause graduated from the Academy with recognition as his class Valedictorian and recipient of the class’s “Top Gun Award” for demonstrating the highest scores in shooting. He also completed the six hundred and twenty-five hours of police instruction with ‘perfect attendence’. He is currently a Sergeant (Res.) with the Westerville Division of Police.
After being commissioned with the Westerville Division of Police, Dr. Krause advanced his education once again by attending the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology in Washington, DC. This opened the door with the Franklin County Coroner’s Office. As a current Forensic Odontologist with the FCCO, Dr. Krause is also currently credentialed to provide forensic identification and criminal bite mark analysis.
Dr. Krause resides in Westerville. He has a daughter Allison, who is a Licensed Marriage and Family Counselor. She resides in Dayton, Ohio with her husband Sean.
His son, Dr. Kyle Krause, a graduate of the University of Cincinnati, (Cum Laude), graduated Dental School at Case Western Reserve University, completed a general practice residency at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Cleveland & Cleveland Metro General Hospital, as well as Case Western Reserve completing an Oral/Maxillofacial internship. Dr. Kyle Krause is currently practicing General Dentistry in Westerville with Dr. James Worley, and in Logan, OH with Dr. Jeffrey Blankenbeckler. Dr. Kyle Krause resides in Westerville with his wife Alex and their daughter Evelyn.
Dr. Krause enjoys both state and international competitive pistol, rifle and sniper shooting as his on-going hobby. He has enjoyed being a long time member of the Bethany Lutheran Church. He also enjoys wood-working, construction and machinery. He plays the piano, and supports many animal shelters and wildlife preservation causes.
